Breathtaking Drone Footage of World’s Largest Cave

Travel photographer Ryan Deboodt uses DJI Phantom 2 drone to capture breathtaking aerial views of Hang Son Doong in Vietnam, the world's largest known cave.

Hang Son Doong in Vietnam is the world’s largest known cave. The largest chamber inside Hang Son Doong is more than 3.1 miles long, 660 feet high, and 490 feet wide.

Travel photographer Ryan Deboodt wanted to capture it all.

With the help of a DJI Phantom 2 drone and GoPro HERO4 camera, Deboodt captured some breathtaking footage of the cave from the air. The drone footage was captured near the entrance and at two “skylights” inside the cave that let in ambient light.

Hang Son Doong, discovered in 1991, is a limestone cave and features the some of the largest known stalagmites.

This is the latest example of DJI’s drones being used to capture amazing aerial views. A real estate visual media company recently used a DJI Phantom 2 to capture a bird’s-eye view of Boston’s brutal winter.

And a team of adventurers recently used a group of DJI Phantom 2+ Vision drones equipped with GoPro cameras to capture thousands of photos of Marum Crater, which is one of only seven permanent lava lakes in the world. Located along the Ring of Fire in the Vanuatu Archipelago in the South Pacific, Marum produces 1,000-degree F temps and splattering molten rock.
