ioBridge’s ThingSpeak ‘Internet of Things’ Platform Used to Create a Social Network for Robots
In addition to data processing, apps based on ThingSpeak are able to interface with social networks like Twitter and location-based services such as Foursquare and Google Latitude.
Marlborough, Mass., ioBridge, Inc. announced that the recently launched MyRobots was enabled by one of its products, ThingSpeak. MyRobots, developed by Montreal-based RobotShop, is a cloud robotics platform that allows operators and robots to readily interact, serving as the "Facebook for robots.”
With ThingSpeak, ioBridge has provided an entire open-source platform where both data and source code are made available. ThingSpeak has garnered a growing community of companies and individuals looking to jump start so-called Internet of Things projects, products, and services. In addition to MyRobots, ThingSpeak has been employed for such diverse applications as environmental sensor monitoring, fitness device interaction, and object location tracking.
ThingSpeak allows for devices such as thermostats, servers, and cell phones and others to send and receive "eTweet-sized." In addition to data processing, apps based on ThingSpeak are able to interface with social networks like Twitter and location-based services such as Foursquare and Google Latitude.
In a prepared statement, ioBridge believes that offering a version of its technology as open source will shorten the time when everyday devices can interact with people and other devices.
A licensed version of ThingSpeak is also available for commercial applications.
