Kiva Systems has announced the expansion of the company’s professional services activities with the addition of two industry veterans to work with the growing number of companies adopting Kiva’s Mobile Fulfillment technology. Mark Mastandrea, vice president of customer experience, joins Kiva to lead the system design and customer support functions, while JD Harris, vice president of professional services, will lead the integration and implementation of Kiva solutions.

The Kiva Mobile Fulfillment System offers the first true breakthrough in material handling in decades, using hundreds of mobile robots to deliver inventory to pickers. This approach provides dramatic ROI and flexibility around fulfillment operations. Mark Mastandrea will help Kiva customers take advantage of this flexibility by leading the design of unique and effective solutions from the full Kiva product line including ItemFetch split-case picking, OrderFetch shipping sortation and CaseFetch pallet-case picking applications. Mastandrea brings 18 years of experience to the solution design process, having run distribution operations at, Webvan, and Weight Watchers.

“I’ve dealt with many of the same problems our customers experience and have a real appreciation for how the Kiva approach eliminates the complexity and challenges that traditional systems create,” said Mastandrea. “The Kiva solution also comes with world-class service and field support, including a unique capability - we can actually listen to the system, gather feedback, and use that information to make further productivity improvements.”

JD Harris joins Kiva after helping several technology start-up companies grow their businesses and expand their service offerings. “Kiva is a very unique company in that their technology provides immediate and sustained value to their customers. In the many years I have worked in supply chain, manufacturing, and distribution, I have yet to see a solution as robust and easy to implement as Kiva. Their customers clearly are ‘raving fans’, and I’m excited to join the company during this period of rapid growth.”

Mr. Harris joins Kiva with over 15 years of professional services management experience. His executive leadership was instrumental in the growth and eventual sale of supply chain execution vendor HighJump Software to 3M Corporation, and he has held senior executive positions at Ernst & Young, MRO service and technology provider Nexiant, and Vision Technologies. Mr. Harris will focus on preparing the Professional Services organization for rapid growth utilizing his experience in building world-class teams and implementing technology integration best practices.

“Mark and JD are strengthening our customer engagement process with a wide array of services, including supply chain analysis and DC design, detailed simulation modeling and rapid integration, design and delivery,” said Mick Mountz, CEO of Kiva Systems. “We have a world-class customer-facing organization that matches the quality of our products and solutions, and we are proud to have Mark and JD as additions to our management team.”
