Noted NASA Roboticist to Speak on “Human-Robotic Systems for Lunar Surface Operations” at Technical Design and Development Event for Mobile Robots and Intelligent Systems

Framingham, Mass. – September 14, 2007 – Robotics Trends and EH Publishing today announced that Terry Fong, Director of the Intelligent Robotics Group at the NASA Ames Research Center, will deliver a keynote session entitled Human-Robotic Systems for Lunar Surface Operations at the RoboDevelopment Conference and Exposition. The RoboDevelopment Conference and Exposition, which takes place at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California Oct. 25-26, 2007, is the international technical design and development event for the mobile robotics and intelligent systems industry. The RoboDevelopment website is http://www.robodevelopment.com.

According to Dan Kara, conference chairman and President of Robotics Trends, “We are delighted that Terry Fong is delivering a keynote session at the RoboDevelopment Conference and Exposition. Terry is very well known and respected within the robotics community for his expertise in human-robot interaction and communication, as well as his work on the next generation of intelligent, mobile robots that will enable humans to explore extreme environments and remote locations such as the moon. His keynote is sure to inspire RoboDevelopment attendees, those technical professionals that are building the next generation of commercial class mobile robots and intelligent systems technologies.”

Terry Fong, Director of the Intelligent Robotics Group at the NASA Ames Research Center notes, “Robots are increasingly being relied upon for exploring on land, underwater and in space. Robots are also being used more and more frequently to educate, assist and entertain us at home, in public and at work. Developing robots that are effective and efficient at what they do is the job of the target audience of the RoboDevelopment Conference and Exposition. I look forward to meeting with roboticists and other technical professionals at RoboDevelopment and describing what NASA is doing to advance robotic systems for space exploration.”
The RoboDevelopment Conference and Exposition is a multifaceted educational forum and trade show dedicated to addressing the technical issues involved with the design and development of commercial robotic products. Tracks within the 2007 RoboDevelopment Conference and Exposition include:
- Design, Development and Standards,
- Tools and Platforms, and
- Enabling Technology.
