The Six Hexapod from EZ-Robot is a creative robot kit that walks on six legs and has 12 degrees of freedom. It needs only three legs to balance while standing, and can walk with just four. Its other legs can reach for new foot positions, or manipulate objects!

The joints are powered by 12 heavy duty servo motors, allowing unique, dynamic movement.

Six features an EZ-Robot Camera for advanced vision learning, detection and tracking abilities. This gives your robot the ability to track objects, faces, colors, motion and more. And you can easily customize the vision tracking behaviors.

Six is made from parts that clip together in a variety of ways, making the robot easy to customize. The robot can also be controlled using Android and iOS apps or by creating your own app using EZ-Builder Robot Software.

Your EZ-Robot is controlled by the world’s easiest, most powerful and scalable robot software. EZ-Builder takes a productive and unique approach to programming your robot. Simply add behaviors such as Camera Tracking, Speech Recognition, Wii Controller, GPS, GAIT Positioning and hundreds more.

Six also comes with the EZ-B v4 WiFi Robot Controller that’s not only the brain of your EZ-Robot, it is also the world’s most powerful and compact robot brain. The EZ-B v4 scales for beginner and advanced users. The EZ-B is two PCBs sandwiched together in a compact 2x2 inch package. For advanced users, the EZ-B may be removed from its casing and mounted directly in your custom robot.

This is a really nice commercial hexapod.

If you’re into open source and want to build one yourself using a 3d printer for a much lower cost (and have a blast doing it) check out this one:

It’s 3D printed, uses only standard and open source components, uses arduino, bluetooth radio control, and is programmable using the MIT Scratch drag and drop programming system.
