Woman Makes Quadcopter/Drone Out of Chocolate—and It Flies!

A newlywed and her husband decided to have the best of all worlds with their hobbies. Frozen chocolate forms the base (FYI, they also did a similar AUV all out…

So, you are in a happy relationship with your dream man/woman. You are the nerdy type, always building stuff, tinkering with electronics and so on, and your partner loves cooking and baking.

How do you find something to do together that will satisfy both hobbies?..Easy! Build a quadcopter out of chocolate! Hey and while you’re at it, why not build one out of ice too!

This is exactly what one couple chose to do. They decided to combine their skills, quench their curiosity, and see if it could be done.

They went ahead and built a wooden prototype, so that they could create a silicone mold to pour the chocolate into. They used styrofoam and metal spacer’s to place in the mold so there would be spaces left for the electronics mounts when the chocolate had set.

Once the electronics were added, they had something that very much looked the part, but would it fly?..

Well the answer was yes, as you will see from the video below. Now before you all start shaking your heads and saying why?..Why not? It’s fun! Plus bonus, if it crashes, you can go ahead and eat the carnage! But wait! There’s more…

icecopterNot satisfied with having a flying snack to nibble on, the delectable duo decided to make another crazy-copter out of ice, so they would have something to cool their drinks on a hot day.

It took them hundreds of attempts to get a complete frame for the ice-copter, due to breaking during freezing and so on, but they managed to get this up into the air as well, albeit for only a few minutes before it started to self-destruct.

We have read numerous comments about these two lickable quadcopters, ranging from, “pointless”, to, “awesome”. We think it looks like a lot of fun, and if you can’t have fun whilst making, then whats the point in doing it! Take it for what it is and enjoy!
