WowWee Robotics’ MiP (Mobile Inverted Pendulum) is a gesture-controlled robot with emotions that wants to play with you.  MiP interacts with you while rolling around on its two rubber wheels, dancing to music and even expressing its emotions with shouts and groans.

MiP stands only nine inches tall, but within that small frame it packs a microphone on its head, an IR sensor on its forehead, LED eyes, IR transmitters in the pupils, an LED mode indicator on its stomach, and a speaker on its rear. MiP comes with a circular plastic tray that attaches to its stomach, and a display stand to prop it up when it’s turned off.

You only need your hands to control MiP. As soon as you insert four AAA batteries in the back component and power it on, this adorable little fellow lights up and begins to move in response to your hand motions. MiP responds to the swipe of your hand in any direction, allowing you to use intuitive hand motions to control MiP. Program up to 50 hand swipes in a row, clap twice and MiP will play the sequence back to you. You can also control it with the free mobile app.

Here’s a look at the seven modes MiP features:

MiP: Use your hand motions to direct your robot. The MiP will follow!
Tracking: Play the ultimate version of follow the leader and watch MiP track your hand or leg wherever you choose to explore.
Dance: MiP is the life of the dance party. Upload a song from your music library to the app, crank up the volume, and watch this rock star do what it does best.
Roam: Watch MiP explore and react to the environment. Highly responsive to surroundings, the MiP detects objects in the way, acknowledges them, avoids them, and keeps on going.
Tricks: Have fun with this one, to the tune of up to 50 commands. MiP lets you program different sequences of action. Swipe your hand in all directions, clap twice, and MiP will play it back. Anything you can do, MiP can do better.
Cage: MiP is in a virtual cage. It’s your turn to prevent its escape by blocking all the exits.
Stack: Stack as many objects as you can on MiP’s tray before the timer runs out! Be amazed at all that MiP can carry
