aicas and Harmon International Collaborate on Next-Gen Auto Infotainment System

aicas GmbH, a Karlsruhe, Germany-based developer of Java analysis and development tools for real-time and embedded systems, and Harman International announced the release of a jointly developed application platform for automotive infotainment systems based on the JamaicaCAR application management system (AMS).

The JamaicaCAR AMS was designed with safety and security in mind, minimizing driver distraction and ensuring that only properly vetted applications can access critical resources. The new system will begin shipping under the name Entune™ offered on select trim levels in the 2012 Toyota Prius v, Prius Liftback, Prius Plug-in, and in the new Toyota Camry.

Earlier this week, at the Embedded Systems Conference held in Boston, the JamaicaCAR platform was awarded the 2011 Embeddy Award for Best in Show in the area of Software and Tools.
