Spark Robotics Technology Inc. (Spark) Announces the Addition of Jack Carthy to Board of Directors
Spark Robotics Technology Inc. (Spark) is pleased to announce the addition of Jack A. Carthy P.Eng ICD.D to its Board of Directors. Spark is a Vancouver based company developing advanced robotic control systems for mobile equipment using a unique software/hardware platform technology. Spark is initially focused on safety and operator assistance applications in the container terminal market. The addition of Mr. Carthy brings Spark expertise in corporate governance as well as strategic sales and marketing experience in industrial environments. Mr. Carthy was elected to Spark’s Board during their first Annual General Meeting held on May 17, 2007.
Mr. Carthy has retired (2003) from Finning International after 33 years in management and executive positions in Canada (Vice President) , United Kingdom (Managing Director) and Chile (Vice President and General Manager).
His last position was President of Finning Power Systems International. Finning International is the Caterpillar Dealer for Western Canada, the United Kingdom, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, and Uruguay. Finning has revenues in excess of $4.5B Cdn and employs over 12000 employees.
His educational background includes an electrical engineering degree from the University of Manitoba. He completed his MBA at the University of British Columbia. Prior to joining Finning Mr. Carthy was employed by Federal Pacific Pioneer Electric as Sales Manager for British Columbia. Federal Pioneer manufactured switchgear and transformers for the utility and industrial markets.
Mr. Carthy is a member of the Independent Power Producers of British Columbia, the Institute of Corporate Directors of Canada (ICD.D) and the Association of Professional Engineers (P.Eng). He has and is currently serving on several private and public company boards. In addition Mr. Carthy serves on the Board of Directors of the Industry Training Authority for the Province of British Columbia.
He is currently President of Sound Energy Inc. Sound Energy is developing a run of river hydroelectric project near Gibsons BC.
“I’m anxious to help the company because of the nature of the product and it’s market applications” stated Mr. Carthy as the main reason that he chose to join Spark’s Board of Directors.
