The Technology Collaborative Issues RFP for Tech Commercialization - Plans $1.6M in Grants to PA-bas
- Proposals now being accepted for developments in digital & analog electronics, robotic technologies & applications, cyber security
- TTC will hold bidder conferences across PA
The Technology Collaborative (TTC), a statewide economic development organization that supports the growth of Pennsylvania’s world-class robotics, cyber-security and digital technologies industries, announced that it expects to award $1.6 million in technology commercialization funding to university groups, start-up companies, and established companies based in Pennsylvania by June 15, 2007.
“The strong response to our last Request for Proposal in Q4 2006, which included 22 proposals, 10 of which came from the eastern part of the state, reinforced our belief that this process is critical to our mission of creating companies and high-paying jobs in Pennsylvania,” said David Ruppersberger, CEO of The Technology Collaborative. “With this new RFP, we will continue to emphasize advanced electronics and robotics technologies with significant commercialization potential, including those that improve the quality of life for elderly and disabled Americans.”
During its funding round last fall, TTC continued its outreach effort to help potential applicants better understand the RFP process by holding bidder conferences across the Commonwealth and plans to do the same during the current round. The first conference is scheduled to be held at TTC on January 29. Updated bidder conference information can be found at TTC’s website at http://www.techcollaborative.org/default.aspx?id=Bidders_Schedule.
TTC is interested in supporting short-to-medium-term projects that build on and extend Pennsylvania’s core technology competencies in specific areas as described in the current Request for Proposals. New product concepts resulting from this work may be further developed by start-up companies, TTC member companies or through company-university collaboration.
As described in the RFP, the two-step submission process specifies that draft proposals are due March 12, 2007 and final proposals due April 13, 2007. Matching efforts (e.g., in-kind labor or lab expense, tuition waiver, and overhead rate reduction) in support of the proposed programs are required at a minimum level of 25% of total program costs.
Interested parties should follow the guidelines set forth in the current RFP which can be found at http://www.techcollaborative.org/default.aspx?id-download_rfp. or contact Chuck Brandt, CTO, .
