The Technology Collaborative Issues RFP for Tech Commercialization; Plans $1.66M in Grants
Proposals now being accepted for developments in digital & analog electronics, robotic technologies & applications, cyber security
The Technology Collaborative (TTC), a Pittsburgh based economic development organization that supports the growth of Pennsylvania’s world-class robotics, cyber-security and digital technologies industries, announced today that it expects to award $1.66 million in technology commercialization funding to universities, start-up companies, and established companies based in Pennsylvania on or before December 8, 2006.
“We implemented a new process during our last round of funding in Q1 2006 that places greater emphasis on technologies with significant commercialization potential developed by small companies, start-ups and university spin-outs,” said David Ruppersberger, CEO of The Technology Collaborative. “In this round we will continue that focus, and also solicit projects that employ new and enhanced advanced electronics and robotics technologies that improve the quality of life for elderly and disabled Americans.”
TTC is interested in supporting short-to-medium-term projects that build on and extend Pennsylvania’s core technology competencies in specific areas as described in the current Request for Proposals. New product concepts resulting from this work may be further developed by start-up companies, TTC member companies or through company-university collaboration.
As described in the RFP, the two-step submission process specifies that draft proposals are due September 11, 2006 and final proposals due October 13, 2006. Matching efforts (e.g., in-kind labor or lab expense, tuition waiver, and overhead rate reduction) in support of the proposed programs are required at a minimum level of 25% of total program costs.
Interested parties should follow the guidelines set forth in the current RFP which can be found at http://www.techcollaborative.org/default.aspx?id=download_rfp or contact Chuck Brandt, CTO, chuckb[@}techcollaborative.org.
