Motoman has launched a cloud-based remote monitoring service, saying it represents a new era in equipment monitoring, brought on by customers’ desire to have information at their fingertips at any time and on any Internet-connected device. The service, called MyMotoman, provides the ability to maintain “a pulse on robot equipment by sending crucial alerts, current production information, and preventive trends in a proactive, ‘always-on’ fashion,” the company noted in a prepared statement. Knowing the current status and performance trends allows the service’s subscribers to improve their ability to keep plants running smoothly and efficiently.

Because there is no need to purchase servers or software, MyMotoman eliminates the need to invest in expensive IT manpower and equipment. All that is needed to access valuable robot information is a unique login and a secure password. Customization is also easy, the statement said. With the click of a mouse, a user can configure views and add fields. Upgrades are automatic, and customization stays intact. Data is protected with physical security, data encryption, user authentication, and other methods.

MyMotoman leverages proven cloud-computing and wireless technologies to provide information at a fraction of the cost of historical methods, the company noted.

MyMotoman can send alerts and predictive maintenance trend data on situations of potential concern. Subscribers to the expanded service program will receive equipment status information on mobile phones, laptops, desktops, or other devices able to access the web.  With MyMotoman, “lights-out” manufacturing is now a reality, providing savings in operating costs, improving throughput and ensuring six-sigma quality, the statement said.
