Firmware Engineer

Full time firmware engineer to work in the Digital Drive Design group. This position is a key contributor to the firmware design and implementation of multiple communication protocols for AMC’s line of digital servo drives. Candidates must have experience in this area at the firmware level.

Responsibilities
* Design and develop firmware for communication protocols that run over a 100BaseT physical layer
* Design and develop firmware for the CANOpen communication protocol
* Participate in architectural design of new protocol stacks with other team members to ensure proper communication support for product features
* Refactor existing designs to improve product capability, performance and maintainability
* Create documentation to clearly describe protocol implementation and functionality
* Participate in code reviews to ensure high quality coding standards are met

Required Skills
* BS in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering
* Minimum 5 years of firmware design experience
* Implementation experience with CANOpen and embedded TCP/IP stacks
* C/C++ programming experience in an embedded environment
* Object-oriented design experience
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Must be a goal oriented, self-starter and work well in a team environment
* Must be authorized to work in the US.

Preferred Skills
* Familiar with motion control
* Design experience with FPGAs
* DSP firmware programming experience
* Experience programming with a real-time operating system
* Familiar with different 100Base-T communication standards
