3D Robotics Solo Drone

The 3D Robotics Solo Drone is another can't-miss option for the aerial photographer on your list, but again it comes with a hefty price tag of $1,000 or $1,400 with a 3-axis gimbal.

Solo is a quadcopter optimized for GoPro that can follow you and record photos or videos. It can take 4K video and 12-megapixel videos and can stream wirelessly from a GoPro to the 3DR Solo App.

Solo features a "Follow" mode to make capturing certain shots much easier, and a feature called "Smart Shots" to capture sweeping multi-axis video with the push of a button.

3DR also partnered with AirMap to provide safety information for drone users.
