Engineering services firm releases its ‘Warrior Tool and Payload Accessory Kit’, a suite of instruments for mid-sized unmanned ground vehicles designed for locating and neutralize improvised explosive devices.

The robotics engineering team at Stratom, Inc. has recently completed the development of a series of tools used with mid-sized unmanned ground vehicles. The suite of instruments, dubbed the ‘Warrior Tool and Payload Accessory Kit,’ includes a blade for plowing, a spade and sweep for digging and forks for lifting and transporting skids and other objects. Also included in the Kit is a hitch, Picatinny Rail Mounts and a customized tool bar for quick and easy integration. The tools are made of high-grade steel with environmental protective powder coating, as well as corrosion resistant stainless steel. The Warrior tools were demonstrated on the iRobot Warrior UGV at the Robotics Rodeo at Fort Hood from September 1-3 of 2009, where they received much praise.

The Warrior Tool and Payload Accessory Kit will be marketed to current users of robotic systems within the DoD and Department of Homeland Security. The tools will be used primarily in efforts to locate and neutralize Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), Counter-IED applications, breaching and clearing operations, and route clearance for US Warfighters and first responders. The toolkits are available for purchase directly from Stratom. If interested in receiving more information or a product brochure please contact or visit Stratom’s website at http://www.stratom.com.

The development of the Warrior Tool and Payload Accessory Kit follows the successful development and sales of the Robotic Route Clearance Toolkit which mounts on the iRobot PackBot for use in Counter-IED measures. The Robotic Route Clearance Toolkit is also available through Stratom, as well as the iRobot PackBot Accessories Catalogue.
