Air Force Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Battlelab (UAVB) at Nellis Air Force Base in Nev. to develop and fabricate a shortwave infrared (IR) sensor for the Spectre-Finder initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to rapidly demonstrate the potential of a small, air-launched and recoverable Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) to provide off-board sensing in support of future Air Force Special Operations Command concepts of operation.

QinetiQ has successfully completed the world’s first flight demonstration of a system capable of controlling and autonomously organising multiple unmanned aircraft. The successful flight trial was conducted to support the concept of using a package of self-organising unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) under the control of an operator flying in a fast jet.

The French defense procurement agency (DGA) has awarded Sagem Défense Sécurité (SAFRAN Group) a contract to conduct a joint VTOL* UAV (DVI) study. It covers the definition study of a VTOL UAV that meets joint Army and Navy needs.
